Yaripo
Drawing series, 2024
Series inspired by the stories of the sacred place of the Yanomami indigenous people of the Amazon: the mount Yaripo.
In 2024 I climbed the highest mountain of Brazil and the sacred place of the Yanomami people: Mount Yaripo. It was a 10 day expedition in the jungle, led by a group of Yanomami men and 3 women . I heard their stories, sang their songs and learned the richness of the region.
The Yanomami believe that the spirit of a white woman is trapped on the top of the mountain, and when angry she sends strong winds and storms to scary those who attempt to visit Yaripo.
